The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is a test of English for students who are planning to Migrate or to those who go for higher education in countries where English is the native language.
There are two versions of the above examination.
Academic Module:
For students who are seeking entry to a university or institution of higher education offering degrees and diploma courses
General Training Module:
For students seeking entry to a secondary school, to a vocational training course or for people taking the IELTS for immigration purposes
All students are expected to take a test on each of the four skills
Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking
Listening and Speaking tests are the same for both the Academic and General examinations.
Scores
Performance at the IELTS test will be reported in two ways. There will be a Band Score from 1 to 9 for each of the Modules and an Overall Band Score from 1 to 9 which is the average of your scores in the four Modules.
